Creating Sponge Cities Together: Building Rain Gardens

Currently, the EPA has allocated nearly NT$100 million to promote at least 30 low-carbon sustainable campuses. Along with installing air conditioning to improve the learning environment, rain gardens are being introduced to schools, enabling both temperature control and water storage. This helps children understand the importance of water resources, climate change, and global warming from a young age.

Currently, the EPA has allocated nearly NT$100 million to promote at least 30 low-carbon sustainable campuses. Along with installing air conditioning to improve the learning environment, rain gardens are being introduced to schools, enabling both temperature control and water storage. This helps children understand the importance of water resources, climate change, and global warming from a young age.

The rain garden project at Beitou Elementary School was initiated through collaboration between FENRi’s team and Dr. Jen-Yang Lin and Dr. Chi-Feng Chen’s team—from planning and communication to implementation and problem-solving. Without full teamwork, it would have been impossible to scientifically demonstrate the effectiveness of the rain gardens or to make this demonstration project a success.

We sincerely thank everyone for recognizing FENRi's efforts. This acknowledgment motivates us to continue addressing climate change and making a positive impact on Taiwanese society. Through education, we aim to prevent problems for future generations. This is the essence of FENR is pursuit of sustainable development and our true value.
